It’s back to the abstracts! I’m so in love with these… I had a macro-photography brainstorm, and suddenly I seemed to have plunged straight into the kind of world I so love to read about – taking shots I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to capture for years… And here they were, almost without my consciously trying to catch them!

I’m afraid that’s the thing though… Afraid, because I don’t know if I can get there again because I’ll be trying too hard next time.

But let’s not worry about that now! For now, I hope you might share some of the magic of what I found the other day…

(These really need to be viewed in full size and one by one. Just saying…)

Meeting the neighbours

So, to keep up the good work, I did a photo shoot with four neighbours today. Four-legged, too…

Please meet Dollar, Oliver, Chekandra, and Rocky! Sweet horses all, who posed uncomplaining – if a little bemused – while their people rattled the oats-bucket, jumped up and down, made strange noises and squeezed a dog’s squeaky rubber toy in order to make them behave for the camera…

Can’t say other than that they did!

New beginnings…

And so it’s been a long time again… My former blog was called “The intermittent blog” – a name I sometimes feel I should have kept…🙂

But I digress.

I haven’t been idle, I’ve just not found the time for blogging – though some shots have appeared on Facebook, and quite a few perhaps more mundane things have been posted via Instagram  – @hagafotografen – (lovely, fast publishing tool…).

And some ideas, one in particular, has been slowly simmering away in the privacy of my brain – and camera. Now, however, I’ve committed to pursuing it a little more officially, and hence – return to the blogosphere!

Actually, I’m not going to talk all about it. I’m just going to post a couple of shots that represent, in a way, my first efforts in a for me unusually long and long-termed photoart project… And so, the nervous question that at some time or other must enter every budding artist’s public communication… do you like?

There’s been plenty of spring-time variety at the bird-feeding today!

The long-tailed bushtits have become regulars…

…along with the blackbirds and the great tits…

…but the siskins (left…) were new customers today!

The tree sparrows and the woodpeckers are returning customers as well…

… as are the bluetits and the coal tits…

… and… oh! Oops…

Well, there’s plenty for everyone!🙂

Long time no see…

I knew these were around, and I’ve had high hopes of seeing them at the feeding this winter but I’ve been disappointed in that regard – until now.

As I stood by the feeder today, raking up spilled seeds and droppings from the lawn, I was suddenly surrounded by merry chirps and a flock of long-tailed bushtits who’d come to see what I was turning up. They hopped around, feeding from the remains in the grass, and were pointedly uninterested in my presence apart from hinting that I was standing in their food. I apologized and went in to fetch the camera…

They did take off when I left, but only to settle down again within seconds, and as I returned they posed sweetly for a few shots🙂
